Running our software is simple. Just follow the step-by-step instructions below. If you still experience problems, please contact us with your query.
 

Do I need any special software on my computer to run your software?
No.  You will need some very basic software, but this is by no means 'special' and best of all, it's free!  To read the majority of the information you have purchased, you will need software such as Adobe Acrobat Reader. This can be downloaded free from here.  To view the main menu, you must have internet browsing software, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox (free download here) or Google Chrome (free download here).  For Q&A software you will need Microsoft Excel (see below)

How do I run the CD-ROM?
1.  Simply place the CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM disc drive, and the software will normally run automatically.

2.  You may be asked (by your Windows operating system) what you would like to do next.  If this is the case, choose "open folder to view files" or something similar.

3.  If neither of the above occur when you insert the CD-ROM, you should manually open your CD-ROM drive to view its contents. To do this, open up "My Computer" or "Computer" (normally found on your desktop or the Start Menu) and double click on the CD-ROM drive. This will normally be labelled something like "CD/DVD-RW D: CopCoach".  If this will not open, your CD-ROM may be damaged or you may have a problem with your CD-ROM drive - test it with another CD-ROM first, and then contact us if you believe the fault lies with our CD-ROM.

4.  You will be presented with a selection of letters in .pdf format - you may wish to read the letter associated with the software you have purchased.

5.  You will also be presented with eight separate .exe files.  The titles of these should be self-explanatory, but if you are not sure which software you have ordered, see the table on your welcome letter, which will indicate with a 'tick' which software you may access.

6.  Double click the .exe file you wish to install.  A message advising you that you are about to install CopCoach software will appear. Click OK.

7.  You will then be asked where you want to install the software to.  You must choose a location (typically on your hard drive) to save the software - it will not run directly from the CD-ROM.  The default location for installation will normally be to your desktop, but you can change this by clicking on the [...] button.

8.  Click 'Start'.  You will be asked to enter a password.  You must have the correct password to extract the appropriate files to your hard drive, without it, you will be unable to view the files.  Type in the password shown on your welcome letter next to the software you have purchased. Please note, passwords are always lower-case, and anything that looks like a 'o' is the letter and not a 0 (zero).

9.  If the installation is successful, you will see the message "All files have been extracted" (If you are overwriting previously installed files, you must click "OK" at each overwrite warning.)

10.  Normally, the main menu of the software you have installed will now automatically open, and you can now browse through the information by following the links. 

11.  If the main menu does not open, you must locate the new directory/folder that has been installed.  This will be on your desktop by default, but it may be elsewhere if you chose to install it to a specific location on your computer during step 7.

12.  Once located, double click the new directory/folder, which will be labelled something like "Recruitment", "RevisionCrammer" etc. depending on the software you have installed.  Within this directory, you will see several .pdf files and, more importantly, a file called index.htm (which may show the CopCoach logo).

13.  Double click the index.htm file.  The main menu will then open, as per step 10.  You may wish to browse the .pdf files individually, which you can do simply by double clicking on them.

And what about running the Q&A software?
The Q&A software for both the OSPRE Part 1 examination and the National Investigators' Examination is Microsoft Excel based.
